If you have an implanted Boston Scientific ICD or CRT-D device, the LATITUDE® Patient Management system offers you and your family members greater convenience, assurance and peace of mind while delivering a higher standard of care. The LATITUDE system remotely connects you and your implanted device directly to your clinic and helps to support timelier, more comprehensive cardiac care.
Your LATITUDE SystemThe LATITUDE system is comprised of several different components that are shipped directly to your home. The primary piece of equipment is the LATITUDE Communicator that sits in your home and connects to a standard phone jack. Some patients may also use the optional LATITUDE Heart Failure Management system (blood pressure monitor, weight scale with alert capability, device diagnostics and symptom self-report questions) to monitor heart failure status if prescribed by their doctor.What to Expect When your LATITUDE Communicator arrives, it is important to set it up right away so your doctor can begin monitoring specific device information and your heart health. The equipment comes with complete set-up instructions, including a video in both VHS and DVD formats that will walk you through the set-up process, a detailed patient instruction manual and an illustrated quick reference guide. The CommunicatorThe LATITUDE system offers two models of the Communicator, wireless and wanded. The type of Communicator you will receive depends on the kind of cardiac device you have implanted.Wanded CommunicatorThis Communicator can monitor your heart health and specific device information on a weekly basis. Your Communicator will display a soft white light reminding you that it is time to check your device. You simply hold a small wand over your implanted device, and the Communicator will tell you when to push the blue button to send your data. The average monitoring session takes about 10-15 seconds to complete, but may take longer if additional information needs to be collected. Each week you will have the confidence of knowing specific device information and your heart health are being monitored.Wireless CommunicatorThis Communicator features Active Monitoring™ and can monitor your heart health and specific device information each day without any initiation on your part. The Communicator will automatically conduct periodic in-home follow ups when your clinic schedules them to occur.No matter which kind of Communicator you receive, you won't feel a thing when your device is being checked. Device ChecksThe LATITUDE Patient Management system will check your cardiac device in two ways:Remote Follow-upsThe Communicator can conduct your follow-up in the convenience of your home. You will still need periodic in-office follow-ups. Your clinic will talk to you about a schedule that is right for you.Remote MonitoringIn addition to your regular follow-ups, your physician can now monitor specific device information and your heart health in between follow-ups. This can be done once a week or daily (only patients with wireless devices can have daily monitoring)Convenience and ComfortLATITUDE remote follow-up offers you the benefit of regular device checks without having to make a trip to the clinic. While you are relaxing at home or traveling to any of the 50 United States, as long as you have access to a standard phone jack, your clinic will continue to receive information about your device on a regular basis.
